What?! Aaak!! I read a cartoon this morning that went something like this: That spider you just killed probably thought of you as a roommate. Did you know that? No, you respond. See, you only ever think about yourself.
That cartoon speaks to me in many ways. First, I have a fear of spiders. I know they are necessary for eating bugs, but I don’t want them inside my home. Cleanliness helps to eliminate bugs, along with dirt and debris that can draw in other pests like mice and rats. So the spiders gotta go.
It also speaks to me of my belief in “Do No Harm”. That could mean don’t kill the spider in spite of the fact that they eat bugs. I can also equate this to the current mood of many people telling YOU that you MUST do this “thing” in order to protect THEM. Isn’t that like giving spiders free run of your home? Aren’t these people causing YOU harm by not allowing you the ability to care for yourself – or in this case – preventing your home from being invaded by other more troublesome critters? And, by you not killing those spiders, how is that going to protect these other people? They don’t live in your home!
So, if you decide to agree to someone’s demand that you do something to protect them, or allow your home to be overrun by spiders, you might want to take a peek at their behind and see if a twitching little tail is attached. Rats and mice do not care about your wellbeing, and will completely take over if you let them.
Here here!!!! Very well said. I totally agree!!
